Acme Food Products Company, Inc., was established in 1877 in Newark, New Jersey,
doing business as an ice house. Soon afterwards, Acme started selling condiments and
snacks to taverns. In the early 1950's, Acme started selling cheese and cold cuts.
Around 1960, Acme Foods moved to 49 River Street in Newark. We shared a frozen
food warehouse with other companies, and the natural progression was to sell frozen
foods. As time went on, more and more customers became comfortable purchasing frozen foods and more frozen food concepts were modernizing our industry. In 1972, we moved again to Wyckoff, New Jersey, to a much larger frozen food warehouse. Finally in 1997, we moved again to a full service warehouse at 135 President Street, Passaic, New Jersey, where we are presently located. Since the early 1900's, five generations of the Wasserman family have run Acme Food Products Company, Inc.
